Building a pool is surprisingly easy… you will need to plan, but you should be able to pull the whole thing off in about 8 steps.

If you've ever looked at your garden and thought that it could be vastly improved with a swimming pool, but you have no idea how much work or time it would take to complete the project, read on, as we give you the inside scoop! Naturally, you'll need to hire a professional pool installation team, but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be handy to know exactly what your garden is in store for, if you choose to go ahead! Come with us now as we give give you a step-by-step breakdown of what it takes to create a dreamy pool in your garden!

1. Marking out the space.

Before anything else can happen, the area that is going to become your pool needs to be marked out and cleared of any other garden debris. This is a precise endeavor, as the shuttering added to the sides will be the only thing keeping wet cement where it should be, during the next step!

2. Pouring the foundations.

A swimming pool is a heavy addition to a garden, so you need to have the right depth of foundations in place, otherwise you could find that your tropical haven simply collapses into the ground at some point!

3. Lining and filing the pool.

With foundations laid, you can build the walls, line them and finally, fill the pool itself. This is a critical step, as it will tell you instantly if there are any weak spots or leaks! If everything holds as it should, you can then think about finishing the pool to perfection!

4. Add a safe surround.

With swimming pools come wet feet and excited swimmers, a combination that can prove to be exceptionally dangerous if you don't have the right flooring in place as your pool surround. Try to opt for something that will dry quickly and offer a little natural grip for bare feet. We thin that wooden decking is perfect and it looks so neat too!

5. Think about extra features.

If you're planning to include a filtration system with your pool, you could think about installing a water feature that takes the job on for you. A simple waterfall, cascading over rocks, will work really well and offer an easy way to tie the garden and pool together.

6. Look at the wider space.

With everything you initially planned to include in site, you can stand back and assess how the pool, as a whole, looks. If you need extra seating, more plants or any other finishing touches, you will see it now!

7. Add some extra functionality.

With your pool surround laid, if you have the room, we suggest adding a bistro dining set, as that way, you can always keep an eye on anyone using the pool and make sure that nothing dangerous happens. You could even add a simple shower too, to make rinsing off before and after a dip even quicker.

8. And… relax!

Finally, jump in and enjoy the pool that you've created! This is the best tip of all!
