The need-to-know colour trends for your home in 2017

Since 2016 is almost out the door, it's time to start discussing what the new home trends will be in the next year. 

Today we're talking about colour. Sophisticated hues are the frontrunners to take the lead to create confident, composed, and comfortable ambiences. The colours in our list today will appeal to the creative, the timid, and the bold. 

We've already seen a few of these shades hit the market this year, but if you need some help imagining how they might look in your own space, this article will surely help you out. So if you're in the process of home renovation, stop your planning now and keep reading so you can be prepared for the new year!

1. Dusky blue

This bedroom home proves that feeling blue doesn't isn't necessarily a bad thing. Intended to recall the colours of the ocean, the beachy shade used here highlights the room's furnishings and accessories, and quite confidently if we do say so ourselves.

2. Terracotta

Warm colours that you can find in terracotta tiles will replace the currently popular cool and white tones. Terracotta is our first example of a composed colour that will take lead in the new year. It has a natural matte finish and adds great charm to any rustic design.

3. Cork

Cork isn't only a quirky accessory, but it can also be used as wall and floor material. The gentle nature of cork allows it to work well with neutrals and earth tones, making it incredibly versatile.

4. Dark green

Light and bright greens have been all over the scene in 2016, but 2017 predicts a change to the dark side.  Green is a loved colour among many, but some find it hard to incorporate into design. Luckily, this colour is so dominant in nature that you can us plants to help you decide if dark green is right for your interior. Place a few deeply coloured, leafy plants in a room and if you still like it after a few days, you can go a step bigger and decorate with real paint or furnishings.

5. Purple

Purple is making a striking appearance in the interior design world, and we predict its only going to grow. This softer shade of purple rests in the comfortable range, but you can get that confident aspect by simply choosing a starker shade.

6. Mineral grey

Light grey is another colour that we've seen quite often, but now let's take it to a whole new level. Dark, mineral grey gives any room a bold new look. If you're worried about your space looking too dark because you don't have the proper contrasting furnishings, then take inspiration from these kitchen subway tiles that sotly transition to mineral grey.

7. Sage green

This kitchen is an example of the composed palette made from sage green and delicate taupe. This palette will be the go-to for the more traditional homeowner looking to add some contemporary flair. The muted shades of this kitchen are also ideal for the introvert who wants to make his first step into accent colours.
